Former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson has been out of cricket since March this year. Williamson was knocked out by a injury of an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in the right knee. Then later in April he had surgery.

However, Kane also slowly toured to England with the team to continue working on his fitness.

New Zealand will hope that their regular captain Williamson gets ready to play fully before the World Cup 2023. He has 6554 runs, with 13 centuries at an average of 47.83. He is the fifth player who scored the most runs for New Zealand.

Before leaving New Zealand to India for the World Cup, Williamson said that he would try as much as possible to get fit for the world cup.
He said that he is eager to join the games as much as possible, and wants to play both warm-up matches before the World Cup competition.

Williamson also said that he wants to improve more and more his running, fielding and batting. He is still facing some challenges while trying to get fit before New Zealand’s first match in the tournament.
He said that he is struggling to slow down after running, and he is also facing some difficulty in changing direction.

Williamson said that this was all part of the plan, and that he was gradually being introduced to these activities towards the end of his recovery. He also said that he is looking to enter game mode slowly before the start of the tournament.

However, he said he has felt good over the last few weeks, and he hopes it will continue.
