ICC World Cup 2023 | Pakistan’s warm-up match in India to be played behind closed doors

According to the BCCI, Pakistan’s first World Cup warm-up game would be played in Hyderabad behind closed doors for security concerns.

Pakistan vs New Zealand warm-up match world cup

Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad is set to host Pakistan’s first warm-up match against New Zealand for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, ensuring security measures are in place.
Babar Azam and New Zealand will face off on Friday, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, but local security agencies advise against fans attending the match.

“The match in Hyderabad coincides with festivals on the day and large gatherings are expected around the city,” the BCCI said in a statement. “The spectators who bought tickets for the game will receive a full refund.”

Large crowds are anticipated throughout the city because the game in Hyderabad falls on a day when celebrations are taking place.
It is unfortunate that fans will not be able to attend Pakistan’s warm-up match against New Zealand. However, the safety of the players and spectators is of paramount importance.

The decision to play the match behind closed doors is a precautionary measure, as India and Pakistan have suspended bilateral cricket ties for several years due to political tensions.

Despite the security concerns, Pakistan is eager to get its World Cup campaign off to a good start. The 1992 world cup champions, who received their visas on Monday after some delay, will leave for India via Dubai on Wednesday.
